Outsight is now a Founding Software member of the Lidar Coalition

The Coalition was established to promote legislation supporting lidar's role in improving infrastructure and road safety in the United States, including minimizing the increase in pedestrian fatalities on roadways, and support the use of autonomous vehicles.

Outsight, a 3D spatial intelligence expert, has joined the Lidar Coalition as the founding software member.

According to estimates from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 42,915 fatalities on American roads in 2021, the most since 2005 and the largest yearly percentage rise in the data collection history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.

Lidar plays a significant role in a variety of new transportation technologies, including autonomous vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems, smart infrastructure, and traffic management.

To maximize the public benefit of lidar deployment, the Lidar Coalition participates in advocacy for public policy, educational initiatives, and thought leadership.

The Coalition was founded in April of 2021 by AEye, Cepton, Continental, Innoviz, Ouster, Quanergy Systems, and Velodyne. Aeluma, Baraja, Ibeo Automotive Systems, and Valeo have also recently joined the Coalition.
